shootnrats, just curious with the mood swing? Reading a couple of your post around the board and I see a emotion switch.

alright i had the heads taking to the machine shop and got the valve bosses cut down. and the pushrod holes drilled bigger. i bought a adjustable pushrod and found out that the stock size pushrod is what i need. so i put it all back together,i went to start it and the engine didnt even fire and i already heard a snap. took the vavle covers off and two push rods are missing. i took the intake off and the push rods were snapped in two and all the push rods are bent.what the heck this is the seventh time im taking this motor apart. im pretty sure im not the only one that is having this problem. i dont know what else to do. im sick of wasting my money on pushrods and gaskets.

Sounds like a clearance issue. How much lift does the cam have? Did you check piston to valve clearance? How much preload did you put on the lifters?

I have never used Rhodes lifters but I have read their adds. They bleed down to give less lift at lower RPM. Have you contacted the manufacturer to ask if they need to be adjusted differently than standard lifters because of the variable lift? Just a guess, but a call to their tech line wouldn't hurt.

My cam only has .460 lift. I dont see how valve to piston clerance would be a issue. But how can i check that ive never done it before. Also could my rockers be binding up on the studs. I have contacted rhoads lifters and they say tightin down the rocker till u see the plunger of the lifter start to move then stop. Would 1.6 rockers help. Maybe opening the holes in the heads for the pushrods to 1/2inch. Go to screw in studs. Cause i dont even know where to start. Im only going to try this one more time and if it dosent work im putting the old heads back on.

with that cam I donot think you would have a valve to piston clearance problem but it could very well be a rocker to rocker stud clearance issue.

Did you figure it out yet? I'm very curious as to what you found.
