Let me ask an obvious question. Dude, what kind of reaction did you expect out of making a statement that bashes one of the more popular, and cheaper, Chevy hot rod platforms?
I smell a troll. Who's got the torches?

I think he is rethinking his statement. Now if he said I hate ricers we would all be cheering.

My first car (actually my dad's car, but I was its only driver)while in high school was a '62' Nova SS, with the 283 and powerglide, I got it slightly used the day an old man that said it had so much power it scared him, traded it in. I told the salesman not to repeat that statement when I brought my dad in. It had less than 5K miles on it. Like many of us older people, I've been looking for one to build for about 10 years, off and on... soft spot for the old boxes.

I guess I am a different kind of old guy. "Scared of a 283". What a weener. My 632s were not enough for me.

Good thing it has wheelie bars.

I haven't been on this site in a while so I've been catching up on some of the posts. As for speed and power being like a drug and always wanting more I can relate. My 79 Nova has a 350hp 327 with a 4-speed on the floor and I only put maybe 1000 miles a year on it. I'm used to my little 5-speed Cobalt daily driver (30k miles/year) with 136hp so when I go from that back to the Nova it's almost like feeling that rush for the first time again! There's nothing like being thrown back into your seat!

Power is like a DRUG, Boy are you right there. My previous drag car had a 2200 lb. race weight with a big chief 632 in it and to me it was like a sunday drive. The only time I felt the brutal acceleration was when it went into tire shake. Then I thought my teeth were going to all break off. I kept trying to add more juice to it but the tires would have none of that.
