i ran across an 84 for free through a family member i had 2 1986 seirra's 1500 and was wondering if a conversion has ever been made to turn a c-10 into a four wheel drive and if so where should i begin

There are kits available to make the conversion, you can pretty much just use a solid axle conversion kit for IFS trucks.  Depending on your skill set, you can make the parts your self.  You will need the cross member from a same year 4x4 or have the ability to make one.  Swapping the tranny shouldn't be a problem.  Drive shafts will have to be made.  Be sure your front end gears are the same as your rear end gears.

I have a 64 long bed with dana 60's on front and back. My dad built it in the back yard in the early 80's. He pretty much fab up everything where he wanted it. The only problem is that it is four wheel drum brakes. Ive been looking for some way to convert the front to disc, but if I were you I would get a front axle with disc on it
