68 CAMARO ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING IN MY GARAGE, I TURNED IT OFF AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAVE CHECKED THE VOLTAGE AT THE + SIDE OF THE COIL WITH THE IGNTION ON AND IT SHOWS 12 VOLTS. HOWEVER , THERE IS NO FIRE FROM THE COIL. ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT MAY HAVE SUDDENLY HAPPENED TO CAUSE NO SPARK AT ALL?

Is this a points distributor? Disconnect the negative side and use a jumper wire to flash the negative side to ground. This should cause the coil to spark, simulating what the points do. If this works/don't work, will help narrow it down.
