As far as the heads a set of 2.02 double hump heads will be about equal but will probably cost close to the same for a good reconditioned set.
For the intake I would use a summit stage 1 . you're welcome any thing else just ask.

would i be able too run stock heads for a while and just make up for not having such high peformance heads? as i understand the carb is only going too take in as much fuel/air mixture as the engine can consume.

is there anyway you can find out? im sure there is i just dont know how... what i meant too say earlier is that can i make up for having smaller heads by having a large intake manifold?

There is no substitute for a good set of heads.
Egr usually refers to the intake manifold which would not be need with a aftermarket intake manifold but if you list the casting number I should be able to find out.
Putting a large port volume intake on low performance heads will make for a sluggish engine.

Also casting numbers 3947041 and 3947041X are good hp heads as well. what is the casting numbers on the heads you have.

i have been looking for those numbers but i'm not exactly sure where too find them...
i think the rochester carb would have an egr valve correct?

on the back of the carb. yes it most likely had an Egr.

where are the head casting numbers located exactly jw? and will the number 3947041 be on stock sbc 250 heads?

The head casting numbers are located under the valve covers.
Yes they are stock gm castings used from 1969-70 on 302 and 350 chevys.

i found a set of edelbrock victor heads that im gonna buy i think that will do the trick? whats you take on this?

edelbrock victor heads are good heads and capable of making agood amount of horsepower with the right combo.
