Hello All
This is my first post here and I look forward to a long association.
My question is regarding my 1958 Biscayne I purchased it with a 454 big block fitted and a powerglide with 2700 stall converter the 454 is quite standard with only mild internals, the car is intended purely as a cruiser. Now to my question I believe the standard diff is a 10 bolt and although I understand the best conversion is to fit a 9 inch diff I was wondering if anyone has upgraded the standard 10 bolt to a satisfactory level to handle this sort of power (guessing sub 350 hp).
One reason I am keen to stay with the original is because I have just spent a considerable amount of money and time replacing the trailing arm and upper arm bushes as well as coils and shocks I also like the idea of keeping the original equipment to some extent.
I hope this all make sense and I appreciate any help
Thanks

That's not a 10-bolt rear like you think. The '58-'64 (can't remember if it was '65 or '66 they changed rears) use a third-member style rear end that looks like a 9-inch Ford. Upgrading it is gonna be tough since parts for them aren't common.
Your best bet so you can keep the parts you've replaced, look for '58-'60 Pontiac or Olds full size rear. They were super strong, are the same width as your original, use the same control arm and spring mounting points, and you can still find parts for them.
