How tough is it to rebuild a 305 without a time factor? I have always bought all my motors. After a few years of tinkering with project cars, i think i would like the sense of accomplishment that comes with a rebuild. We own a FAST car, two daily drivers and multiple work trucks. So we are not looking to build a bad*** motor, just something economical and a bit on the easy side. I would like to salvage as much as possible. The 305 with 700r is an ok set up now. We have a tough time holding in od at 75. Hopefully this is something that can be dealt with in the build. Everything is stock other than the edelbrock 600cfm e/c carb that is on it. and someone cut the exhaust manifold to make duals. Oh yea, the previous owner deleted the cruise option in the carb swap. Something i want back! We, I would like to keep it simple. Thanks mike

That 600 carb may be a bit too big for a 305.The 450's many tuners has claimed will serve justice on a 350 cid with stock cam.Your build really depends on how much you want to spend on the project.I'm no pro but If I were in your shoes.I would locate a 350 and rebuild to a mild application.Full roller rockers, cam shaft to suit your needs with out verter or rear gear change or keep the stock cam, recurved performance distributor/coil,msd 6a box and wires, shift kit for the trans if in good condition. Not high mileage on the trans.Headers if you can afford them. You can find alot of deals on ebay for these parts.Like I said I'm no pro.C'mon giby chime on in.This guy needs you on this one.Your the GURU
