What is the difference between a master cylinder used for a 4 wheel drum brake system and one used on a 4 wheel disc brake system?  Because of fitment and clearance problems I would like to use a 4 wheel drum MC on a car with 4 wheel disc brakes.  Can the drum brake MC be modified to work properly with disc brakes?

The disc brake master cylinder has a lot more pressure than the drum brake unit. The drum brake unti will NOT operate your disc brakes properly.

No, it can NOT be modified to work with disc brakes.

What kind of vehicle is this for? You could try going to a manual disc brake master cylinder, or an aftermarket hydroboost system.

I am looking to use a 4 wheel drum master cylinder from a late 60's - early 70's MOPAR in a car that has '94 Corvette suspension/brakes and I don't want to use any type of power assist. This particular MC has no built in residual valve and I need the extra wide mounting flange to mount it properly.  I am also tight on vertical clearance and this MC is only about 3" tall from the center of the bore to the top of the cap.

Assuming that both the 4 wheel disc and the 4 wheel drum master cylinders are operated without any type of power assist and that both have the same diameter bore, how can one have more pressure than the other?
