I recently added a 69 Camaro convertible 396 4-speed to my garage, and it has an old ACCEL 30100 dual points distributor and Mallory Voltmaster II coil. I have a spare complete HEI distributor, but I'm concerned about firewall clearance. I've read a number of threads which say it will or won't clear, but I was wondering if anyone out there has definitive information on this subject. Thanks

The coil-in-cap HEI systems do have some clearance problems in the earlier cars.
Best advice I could give, find a standard single-point big block distributor, then get a kit from Pertronix to eliminate the points. You get high-energy, HEI reliability, and the look of a stock distributor.

Thanks for the info. From looking at it, it doesn't look like its going to work. For the cost of a Pertronix, I might just get a modern distributor from MSD or ACCEL and pay a little more.
