I recntly purchased a used top end kit from the folks at horsepower tv. It has a roller cam and retrofit roller lifters made by lunati, the problem I have run into is that the cam is not a retrofit,it is for a factory roller block like the zz4. It has the stepped nose for use with factory cam retaining plate. My block does not have the provisions for said plate.
I read an article in CHP called "Roll it over", The caption under the picture of the cam retainer plate says these cams can be used with a modified plate, that has had the ears removed. Does anyone know how to attatch this modified plate to an older block?

Your other option is to use a cam button spacer. They attach to the nose of the cam using the cam gear bolt retainer plate. Very easy to install, it keeps the cam from walking forward by bumping against the front of the timing cover.

Actually a cam button is not an option. the step nose in the cam makes for a smaller mounting pattern for the cams timing gear. a cam button and retaining plate do not fit a factory roller blocks timing gear. My only options are, buy a retro fit roller cam for about $300,Or to modify a roller blocks retainer plate.
Is there anyone out there that knows how to do this modifacation?
