I just got this truck and when you put it in gear it stalls unless you rev it up and drop it in to gear but when you stop it stalls back out ![]() could this be a electrical problem?

What trans, Does it have a lock up converter? The converter may not be unlocking.

I don't think your problem is in the transmission, I think it's with the idle control on the motor. Could be an idle air control valve, or possibly a vacuum leak. When you shift into any moving gear, the idle should kick up to account for the load of the trans on the motor.

i found out it has a th700r4 does anyone know if the 700r4 is the same in a 86 silverado they look the same and will it be geared the same where its an 86?
