I have a 65 nova it has a 350/385 fastburn motor with a hot cam.750 demon carb,700r trans with 410 rear gears. It just seems like it isn`t as strong as it should be.Just wondering if the gears and trans are right?

you wonder a lot dont you?
what do you mean that it doesnt feel as strong as it should, something with a 700R4 really isnt meant for drag racing, overdrives are for street cars, ask anyone with a auto tranny drag car and they will tell you the best for performance is a th350/th400, but i really dont know if that is what you are talking about or not, ???

With what you told us, it's hard to give any advice, except what Gibs said about the 700R4.
"It doesn't feel as strong as it should". THat is a very vague statement. Do you commonly drive muscle cars and sports cars with high horsepower drivetrains? How should it feel to you? What are you comparing it to? And... since we can't feel what it's like to drive or ride in your car, a time slip from a drag strip (with all the numbers, not just the final et and mph), along with what rpm you're going through the lights at the finish line, could tell us a little something about your car. How much does your car weigh? Did you say how much convertor you are running (brand, size, stall speed)? How tall your rear tires are? What your maximum advance in your timing is set to? Have you checked for wide open throttle to be sure your carb is opening all the way up when you "floor it"(this requires a helper)? Fuel system, ignition system, header size, exhaust size, etc!!!???
If you can answer all these questions, then someone here should be able to give you some pointers. It's just very difficult to advise people about their cars or problems when so little info is offered with the original plea for help.
It's not just you, others tend to ask for specific solutions to vague questions .... sometimes they go completely un-answered. Wonder why?

It hits rev limiter just to quick, that's why I was wondering if the rear and Trans where a good match. It's just when i'm driving and kick it in the ass, it just doesn't want to get up and go.

Plenty of drag racers prefer a two-speed Powerglide over a three-speed auto. It all depends on what you got, and what you're trying to accomplish.

sorry charles i worded that wrong, i was referring to performance wise that TH300/TH400 or a Powerglide, now that you bring it up, would be better than a 700R4
