Hi there guys! I thought I would start a discussion about new Super Sport car disigns. First off, the new 05' Chevelle is not a Proper Chevelle. If Gm wants to build a new Chevelle than they need to carefully study their finances. Then deduct the proper ammount from their bank account to cover the costs of designing and building one here in America. Then they need to figure out what it should look like. Personally I would like to see a retro 70's Chevelle, but how about a 78-83 style Chevelle?
Now if GM likes this new Holden Monaro body style, thats their choice! Now before I get hate replies and mail, I want to point out some facts about the size and styling of the new 05 Chevelle! If you consider it's overall size, it is just about on target with that of a '70 Nova! I am trying to hint at something that we seem to have forgotten! Also if you look at it's styling preferance, it in some cases resembles that of any 60's-'79 Nova! Now if GM took this new Holden platform and fitted it with the usual GM muscle car parts, like the sport-tuned suspension, traditional rally wheels or cragers, and a restyled body with the flavor of a '70 Nova Super Sport, then just imagine the GANGBUSTER SALES they would have! I'm not joking! Sales would SKYROCKET if there was a retro '70 Nova Super Sport! A brand new Nova Super Sport should be on GM's top-priority list of things to do! Look at the new '05 Chevelle's size and shape and it's not real far off from a '70 Nova SS. Also imagine just how cheap it would be to produce one!
I wan to also point out some of GM's strong points. They have several V-8's to choose from already! They have a 4.6L D.O.H.C. Northstar (Cadillac), a 325 C.I. OHV. (SSR), a 346 LS-1 *** OHV. (Corvette\Camaro\Firebird\Trans-AM), a 346 LS-6 *** OHV. (Corvette\CTS-V), and a 362 LS-2 *** OHV. ('05 Corvette). I did not mention any big blocks because those engines cannot pass emissions for passenger cars which is why they are only offered in trucks and suv's. I also would like to point out another engine that could be brought back. the good ol' 305 *** OHV. FI. With these engine choices, it would be very easy to build an affordable new Super Sport!
Now lets jump back in time to the early 60's when the SS name first appeared! It was offered not only on V-8's, but also on 6's as well! So a new Monte Carlo or Impala SS with a 3.8 OHV. V-6 IS NOT ruining the Super Sport image! Now I can see where front wheel drive and single exhaust made to look like two exhasut pipes are under the car IS A REAL PROBLEM! But we all know that GM COULD EASILY FIX those two issues if they would spend the $DOLLORS$ to do it! Also, if GM would offer the 4.3L OHV. V-6 in the Monte Carlo SS as an option instead of just a supercharged 3.8 OHV V-6, then sales would of course SKYROCKET! This is all in theory if the prices were right based on the eginge sizes and options!
So to sum this all up! I'm saying that GM has plenty of options! They need to use them! They have the finances to go out on limbs, and the creativeness to design and build real, American Muscle cars THAT CANNOT ONLY MEET OR PASS FEDERAL EMISSION STANDARDS, BUT REKINDLE THE AMERICAN SPIRIT IN GM PRODUCTS! PAY ATTENTION TO ME PEOPLE I KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING! Please do not send me any hate replies or mail for anything I may have said to offend anyone! Thanks and have a nice day!
