why are aftermarket disc brakes on 68 impala building pressure and not releasing front calipers

Sounds like power booster issues. The booster's not relasing pressure on the master cylinder.

Hey Guy  did you buy the booster and master cly as a assembly  if not loosen the bolts that hold the master cly on and see if your brakes free up, if so there is a rod inside and in between the booster and master cly that is to long. some are adj some are not. I would suggest that it be purchased  as a assembly. see if takes care of your problem.
