I have a 78 caprice classic V8 5.0 , i have it for 2 years allready, and the more i drive it the more i like it its got 70000 original miles on it

i want to know if its possible to add horsepover with a few new parts ( carburator, exaust, intake, etc etc. ) and save gas at the same time

i just dont know where to start, i just want something decent for my dailydriver and to pass a few puncks on the freeway but not for competition racing... I would appreciate any ideas and will keep u updated of progress, thank you

Dual exhaust and headers will improve both power and mileage by reducing pumping losses. More compression and better heads like Vortecs will also add power and efficiency. Vortec will give both if you careful about running the 305 head not the 350 which will sub-optimize compression on a 305. More cam and more carb will add power but cost fuel doing it.
