Chp used to run articles every year on trans comparisons. What I thought I knew I have foregotten. There is a trans that can be changed for a 700r4 with little work. You are gooing to want a older one that does not have a full selonoid controlled  valve body. You are gooing to want to find a way to lock the converter up at crusing speed.I think in 4th gear crusing for a long time may build up a lot of heat w/o the converter locked up.Band M makes something for this but you may be able to rig something up.Try looking for one out of a police or fleet car.A corvet would be nice they have a stronger accumelator. There is a spring in the valve body i always find broken.Put it in the car first to make sure it is ok then do the mods you want.I did this backwards once and did not know weather it was me or it was no good when I got it.

a t350 or a 350c yok is allright  to use

cross member you might adapt ??

a 350c have lock up might work i have not had much to do with them check it out with a trany man over there or make a switch that you can switch on and off

you wont a late t700r4 around the 1988-1990

you have to get the cable

this boxs do have probs that are easy to fix and not 2 easy to fix get back 2 me and i can help you with at a later date you might have to think about zetranyman@netscape.com">ozetranyman@netscape.com

there are many articals in this mag that will help with this conversion

there is diferent way to go you can get a computer to run a late box 4l60e wich is a elec t700r4 that will run lock up and shift points depending on the computer

i do not know the cost of the computer but there is 1 in the GM- site under trany perfomce parts

any way you go you must think about what you wont from it
