Just curious if anyone had tried swapping a new style vortec (5.3 L) engine into an older vehicle.  I'm trying to decide what engine to put into my 66 chevelle, and was curious what was involved if I decided to put in a vortec.  Does anyone make a carb intake for the 5.3, or would I have to install the fuel injection and computer?  Any info is appreciated.

What you can do will depend on where you live. If you live in California or a state that imposes California emission requirements, you will be required to bring the Chevelle up to the standards of the new engine. That means that all the engine and chassis emission equipment for the 5.3 will have to be installed right down to the "Check Engine" light.

I'm up in rural Minnesota, so Cali. emissions laws don't apply.  I basically was wondering if anyone had made this kind of swap, and what all is involved in doing so...
