OKAY LOOKING TO PUT IN A 700R INTO A 73 NOVA...TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD DO ???? NOT LOOKING FOR A $3000.00 RETRO!

You should be able to do this for a lot less than 3000 bucks.


The 700R4 uses the same Chevy bolt pattern found on I-6 and 90 degree engines whether V6 or V8. It's a few inches longer than a TH350 and will require a new or modified rear mount see these guys <<< http://www.transmissioncenter.net/gforce_double_hump_crossmembers_.htm >>>


Early models had duarability problems, these were mostly sorted out by 1986/87. You will find 27 or 30 spline output shafts and have to deal with that vis'-a-vis' what you currently have on your output yoke. You're gonna have to whack 5-6 inches off your drive shaft.


The lock up converter bolts to older flex plates. You need to control the lock up, This can be a switch or GMPP has a brain in a box for ya if you rather not keep track of the operational details.


Details like kickdown levers and such can be worked out when you get there, this will vary some by the carb you're using.
