Hi guys! need help on new motor am putting in 75 vette, bought a short aluminum water pump that was referred to as a vette style pump. Is it the correct pump? Also on valve springs I am using a comp cams flat tappet XE-268 in a roller style block and vortec heads, should I use the LT-4 springs or go with comp cams springs? And will stock length pushrods and stock rockers work? Thanks for any help.olecruiser

Short pump, long pump, 'vette pump, large shaft, small shaft it's enough to drive a sober man to drink. Measure the pump on the engine from the block to the front side of the pulley flange. Do the same for the pump you bought. These dimensions need to be the same or the pulleys and belts won't line up. Then check out the plumbing, some pumps have a provision on the top for a heater hose, others don't. Match this configuration to what you have. A pump that has a heater hose provision that's un-needed can always have a pipe plug put in it to shut the passage. Conversly, if the pump doesn't have the provision and you car needs it, then you need to get a different pump. Last thing to check is the shaft protrusion, you need to make sure it's the same diamater as what's on the car or the pulleys won't fit on the shaft properly if at all.

Hey bogie, If im going to put aftermarket pulleys on it like chrome or billet I guess if its long or short dont matter much? Also the motor will have a comp XE-268 cam and vortec heads any input as to valve springs, pushrods, and rockers? Id like to get away with the stock rockers for a while but Im a little on edge about the pushrods and confused on the springs. Im leaning towards keeping the valvetrain all comp, how strong a pushrod do I need? Thanks for the info olecruiser
