I've pulled the transmission and transfer case and have to replace with a 700R transmission from a 2 wheel drive 350 silverado same year. I also have a drive shaft from the 2 wheel. Both trucks are long wheel base. Is this as easy as installing a transmission and drive shaft or will there be complications or specific changes necessary?

hey guy  I would also ck to see if the trans cross member is the same, also if i remember right the 2wheel drive, drive shaft is two piece and not on the 4x4 on your truck. Look where the carrier bearing bolts to the frame on the 2wheel drive it may be different than yours. all in all it is not a hard swap.

p.s. I hope this helps you.

thanks

Thank you for information. We are further along now. I've replaced the 4 wheel drive transmission with 700R 2 wheel drive transmission. But my drive shaft which accompanied the 2 wheel drive transmission, is correct in length but I have a clearance problem. Can I cut what appears to be a kind of cross member with steel rods on both sides running parrallel with the frame to the front suspension? I suppose this serves a purpose with the 4 wheel drive suspension. Also the cross member that held the previous transmission is all I have to support the 2 wheel drive transmission again I'm not certain that this is usable with my 2 wheel drive transmission. However, it seems to me that I'm really close which makes it all the more aggrivating not knowing.

hey guy  No No No pleases don't cut that cross member out, that holds your torsion rods for the front end, they take the place of coil springs on a 4x4. If your your original cross member will bolt up to the trans and frame it should be ok. As far as your drive shaft, will it go in and bolt up if the truck is setting on the ground  and not in the air, if not you may have to go to a two peace drive shaft witch will give you clearance you need.
