I am a new member on this online forum. I just wanted to tell the readers about a great little turbocharged 350 that I have in my camaro. CHP put a little of it in the letters section under turbo camaro this month. If anyone out there is interested in the engine breakdown let me know, I would be glad to share it. Ben

Lots of horsepower, lots of torque and incredible driveability. High tens with a 3.08 gear and 19 in. of vacuum. blow through carb, cast crank with pm rods very affordable . You dont have to spin it past 5500, to make 570 rear wheel torque and 500 rwhp. just reach through the window and turn the key. No keeping it running, or double footing at stop lights. lots of fun, easy and cheap to build.

I am building a similar engine and would be interested in what you put together.

You're a good salesman...
I say it's still a ticking time bomb with powder metal rods and a cast crank though. There's no point in being that cheap with forced induction involved.

I had a little trouble with the reg. I am gathering info for my own build and didnt read the letters section as I am currently out of the country. I have been an engineer working with turbo diesels for 11 years all over the world I want to see if I can put together a solid small block chevy for my progect car. Any info would be apperiated.

A ticking time bomb???? I hear people talk about..you must have forged this or forged that or the thing wont last...bla bla bla!!! I have been racing chevys since 1979...sprint cars, imca mods, late models, street stocks and drag racing almost every class. years ago us poor boys went to the junk yard and picked through the motor parts for the best gm parts we could find there. X rods were the ones to get, if you found a set of pink rods you didnt use them..you sold them for money to put other places in the car! And then there's the 4 bolt issue..dont get me started!! I have built a 327 (2 bolt)from junk yard parts that would tunn 7200 down the straight with a PG and a 4:10 gear and it lasted all season...as a matter of fact it took 2nd in points that year.
A turbo charged 350 with stock GM parts!! GOOD for you man! I would love to hear about the build.

If ticking time bombs last 3 years I will take it. The engine has countless chassis dyno pulls and 1/4 mile runs on it and everything looks great. A good balance job is worth its weight in gold . Dont be upset because I schooled you on the supercharger turbo debate. I am just telling the readers what works. If I blow up stock parts, which I have on other builds, I would just say it. I am just telling the readers what has worked for three years straight. If I had the money or need for forged goodies I would put them in But I dont. So this works. Leave it alone.

Thanks for the reply. I think stock gm parts are some of the best money can buy. Like I said cast 10/10 crank, pm rods from pace performance and a good balance job, and Its lasted three years with countless dyno pulls and 1/4 mile runs. I use a forged speed pro piston but again very cheap, just a flat top 4 eyebrow piston that will take a little detonation without breaking.10.8's 19 inches of vacuuum on a 3.08 gear in a 3400 pound camaro withonly .218 degrees at .050.got to love chevys

I generally run 10 to 12 pounds on the street on pump gas. When I go to the track and crank it I see 18 psi and I usually throw in 5 gallons of race fuel, just to be on the safe side. The car is street mostly but it has the appropriate cage and harness for racing. Definitly something to go out for Ice cream with, very mild smooth and reliable.

Sounds like you have found the combo that works, engine building is a lot trial and error. To me thats the fun of it, finding something that works that has not been done before. Im sure the stroker engine came about from some ole' poor boy who had a 350 block and a 400 crank and had to make it work...I bet he was surprised! I have never played with a turbo engine before, I do know they work and work well. Thanks for sharing the info.

I'm glad you have a turbocharged 350 Chaseturbo, but please don't try to sell on this section. We have a parts section if you want to do that.

I am not trying to sell the recipe for the engine. Its free. I just think that there are some turbo enthusiast out there that would like it. I am not an engine builder or fabricator. I am a construction laborer that loves hot rods. I came across this combo with trial and error. Anyone with a small mig welder and some pipe can fabricate the turbo manifold, its not brain surgery.
