Just want to warn people to stay away from Unlimited Products or Unlimited Performance Products in .  I recently ordered a fiberglass bolt on hood and fiberglass reproduction fenders for my 74 Chevrolet Nova. I talked with one of their representatives on the phone which completed my order and arranged shipping that I would pay for on delivery. When the shipment arrived I looked at the so-called reproduction fiberglass parts and found that the fenders were not exact copies of the original fenders. It was missing the inside flange that you mount the hood hinges to and there is not enough fiberglass around the wheel well opening to mount your wheel well liner.  There are a couple of the body mounting holes missing too. So I contacted Unlimited Products to find out if this is a bad mold or if they don’t reproduce fenders to the OEM standards. If they didn't reproduce the fenders to the OEM standards the sales representative should have told me that over the phone and that the hood would not work with the fenders. Well almost 2 months later I am still waiting for an answer on what they are going to do with my order. They continue to blow you off on the phone, call back in 20 minutes or we will call you, which neither gets a resolution.  There have been a couple of representatives (Pam and Crystal) on the phone that admitted that the products were defective, but they couldn't make the final decision. So trying to get a hold of the managers (Vikki or Victoria) is almost impossible. I told them that I just want a new set of fenders or a refund for the defective fenders plus shipping. It has basically come down to me spending another $100 to ship the merchandise back to them for a refund and they would not send me new fenders. So I told them that I will be sending the hood back also since I can't use it with the defective fenders and they told me that I would be charged a 25% restocking fee.  So after spending about $750 to get this merchandise I am only getting about $560 back.  They have more than 100 complaints at the LA Better Business Bureau (labbb.org). So beware of this company because they will screw you over if you can.

Nothing against Chevy High Performance, but I found their ad in the back of a car magazine like this, so don't always trust the ads because they are in one of your popular magazines.

This is unfortunate but fairly common with fiberglass parts. It happens for a couple reasons. 1) There are shapes that not obtainable with a simple plaster mold which a lot of these companies use. So the finish dimension and contours to make a truly replacement part are up to the purchaser. 2) This does link a bit to "1" in that the part is intentionally made lacking certain factory shapes because the part is intended for a competition situation where the original factory mounts and components are not used. The front end parts may be bonded together by the end user or otherwise changed from what we think of as factory dimensions or mountings.

Your probably money and time ahead to get some resin and glass then just modify what you've got to what you need.

The down side to fiberglass is that it doesn't like to be bolted to things, it forms stress cracks when point loaded such as a bolted joint. This means that where you have to join to the chassis or hood to fenders, you need to bond in a piece of steel with the thickness characteristics of the original metal part to pick up the loads and spread them into the glass such that the glass doesn't form stress cracks. You can also bond in pieces of wood where dimensions allow this. The wood needs to be either plywood or good stuff like mahogany to insure it doesn't stress crack as well.

Or you can advertise them on e-bay for some racer looking for plastic parts and go back to metal for your car.

Good luck, if you decide to rework the fenders there's a lot of books on the subject of fiberglass construction, I'd recommnd you get a couple and study up before just glueing things to your kilo-buck fenders.

It is unfortunate that the salesman was too inexperienced to know that these parts wouldn't bolt together onto the same car. (yes, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt).... but I would assume that any bolt on fiberglass hood is intended for a stock mounting set-up (stock fenders, hinges, and latch mechanism system), and conversely, that any fiberglass fenders are intended for racers looking for the lightest weight fenders possible...and one would/ should assume a "pin on" hood was intended to be used with them.

It sucks that they are yanking you around about it all...  Hopefully it works out for you, either by being able to sell the stuff you don't want on E-bay, or they agree to take the stuff back (to save their reputation).

good luck

I'm not suprised.  They've been around a long time.  I bought a cowl induction hood for my '70 Camaro back in '91 and it never fit right.  Although it does work and I still have it.  Next time I would try Harwood.
