GM hei distributor, crane cam(energizer)hydrolic 228 at 50/480degree total. This motor sets in a 65Chevy Deuce.(456 rear- 350trans) Does anyone know if this is the right size cam for this motor & pistons? And what size stall converter would I need for this set up ?? As it is now I just got it running, but as soon as I put it into drive it shuts off.Does anyone have any suggestions??? Thanks

that cam is not large enough for 12 & 1/2 : 1 compression. I believe you mean .480 lift w/ 228 duration @.050 right. if that's the case you are gonna be way under cammed for that compression. you're gonna need a bit of a stall w/ that set up. at least about a 3,500 rpm stall if not more. as far as it shutting off as soon as you put it in drive I'm not sure. been building engines for 18 years but not much on the under the hood diagnosis stuff. great machinist but just an average mechanic at best. good luck.
