This is just a general question. I'm building a 383 small block all forged bottom end with AFR 210cc heads, aprox. 10.5:1 comp, Edelbrock victor junior intake, BG 830 cfm general competition carb, Comp Cams solid roller with 630 lift(both int and exh) and around 252-260 degrees duration @.050. I know this is very general info. the engine will be set up with all the necessary clearances and so on, I'm looking to see if this seems like as good a combo to you guys as it does to me? I'm shooting for around 550 horses. This engine once broke in will find a home in my 55 chevy two door car. I am hoping to run in the mid to low 11's, once i get it sorted out.

i've found some pretty decent articles about 383s. maybe these will help. i'm trying to put one together to go in my car. the last one is a 350 but i'm sure it would be pretty impressive as a 383.

Thanks for the articles!! The Carcraft article 540 hp for $4,800 is the one that prompted me to build a 383, I was just going to build another 355. I'm using the long 6 inch rods in it as well. The other articles were good too, thanks again!!--Phil
