I want to install a pair of headers on my '95 GMC extended cab pickup. It has the 5.7 litre (350) TBI engine. I'm undecided about which type to get--the short tube or long tube headers. Will there be much of a difference in horsepower or torque? I know the shorties are easier to install, but I am more interested in power than ease of installation. Thanks for any suggestions you may have, even about a brand you might recommend.

I have Hedman 68600 headers installed on my Astro "SS-350" and am very pleased with them. I don't think there's a huge difference between the shorty and long headers. I'm scared of the long headers because of the tubes that run next to the starter & solenoid. I've seen a lot of them get cooked, not to mention the pain in the butt it is to change the starter with full-size headers. Been there, done that. When you do get some headers, I would HIGHLY recommend using copper header gaskets. At Summit Racing, they are about $30, but well worth it. Also, header bolts like to loosen after time, so you might want to either put some loc-tite on them or some header bolt locks.

Thanks for the helpful advice and hints on the headers. It certainly helps me out. And good luck with the installation of that Edelbrock fuel injection system. Should work well.
