Hello i have a 88 monte SS and im putting a 700r4 in it. i was wondering if i will have any drive shaft problems? it has a 200R4 in it and i know there are the same but the 700r4 is beefer. any comments would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to shorten the driveshaft. I also think you need to move the trans crossmember back a couple inches but the frame might have the holes already predrilled. Measure frome the front edge of the bellhousing to the edge of the output tail housing just to be sure. I will go back and doublecheck a website on transmission lengths I have bookmarked. I will post a correction if I'm wrong

The 200-4R is shorter than a 700R-4. It's external dimmensions are very close to a TH350 trans. So, you'd have to chop the stock driveshaft a ***
From the factory, the 200-4R is actually the stronger trans. It was the slush box of choice behind the turbo Grand Nationals. The aftermarket is loaded with parts for them, I'd suggest you do a good performance build on the 200-4R you've got and save yourself the trouble of cutting the driveshaft and getting it rebalanced, etc. GM eventually beefed up the 700R-4 internally in the late 80s when they stopped making the 200 series trans.
You can easily get a perofrmance rebuild kit from TCI or JW Transmissions that'll have your 200 rock solid.
