Ignition Coil gets too HOT

I have a 71 Nova 355 and after the car runs for awhile the coil gets hot and the car dies. I can cool the coil off and the car starts right back up.
I'm thinking some wiring to the ballast resistor or some other electrical problem.

This is driving me crazy.......any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Loren

How many volts are running to the coil?
