i own a 96 gmc sierra. it has a few miles on it and i am considering a rebuild of the 5.7(350). i think i would like to build this motor into 383 ci. via a 3.75 stroke crankshaft. what are the ramifications of such an attempt(complications) ? and how and what mods need to be done otherwise?

Aside from the usual internal changes which are pretty well covered, what you'll have to do is reprogram the computer. The OBD II system requires a FLASH reburn rather than a chip replacement which works back in time starting with 95 models. The FLASH requires you surrender your computer to the shop doing the programming.
Given the bigger displacement putting on a larger throttle body will help feed air to those additional inches.
All this needs to be done the oneth time, otherwise you'll get into multiple trips through the reprogramming and this is expensive.

I knew I should've included this the first time. These are a few samples, there are several other places that do chips and reprogramming.
Expect somewhere in the range of 3 to 5 hundred dollars.
