Well I tried to email you some information on my truck but I recieved a "Undeliverable" message.  Anyway, here is the e-mail that I tried to send.

The Truck:

The story of my truck:

When I turned 16 years old I bought a 1991 S-10 that was originally
equipped with a 4 cylinder.  Someone had already installed a 305 and my
father and I agreed that it would be a good project.  The first weekend
home, we took the truck down to the bare frame.  Together my father and
I rebuilt the truck from the ground up.  My father bought me a short
block L98 for Christmas that year and it was probably the best
Christmas gift anyone could get!  Two years later, during my senior
year in high school, the truck made its first drive out of the garage!
3 years later I am still working on it, a project that will never be
finished!  Since the first time out, I have added Edelbrock RPM heads,
Edelbrock RPM cam and a B&M 144 Roots blower.  With all this added
horsepower I started drag racing at the local tracks.  My first time at
the track, running 3-4 psi of boost, I ran a best of 12.88 @ 113 mph
with my street tires, I even drove it to and from the track!  I
continued racing the truck as the year went on and made a new best of
12.65 @ 114.49 I also drove the truck to and from the track (160 miles
each way!)  This was all done with my 7.5" 10 bolt rear end, cast
pistons, stock rods and crank!  When the season was over, I decided it
would be fun to up the boost.  I put on a new pulley and was now
running 5-6 PSI of boost!  I also decided with the extra boost to
upgrade to a 750 Mighty Demon Blower carb and a MSD 6BTM ignition box
to help prevent detonation.  With all of these new parts I wanted to
see what it put down on the dyno...  I was amazed at the numbers, 399
Rear Wheel HP and 614.4 Rear Wheel Ft-Lbs of Torque!!!

Recently I decided to bring the truck to the track to see what it would
run with the upgrades.  After three runs battling a transmission that
wouldn't shift, I put out a best time of 12.54 @ 107.  When my Felpro
head gasket let go my day was over.  When I got home I started to take
the engine apart to replace the head gasket and found a piece of a
piston skirt on the end of the distributor drive gear!  So I knew that
the engine was pretty much shot and took it out of the truck.  Upon
disassembly, I found that I had broken 7 out of 8 piston skirts and a
cam lobe was worn off and the lifter was collapsed.

After taking the engine apart, I sent it out to Precision Automotive, a
local performance engine builder, and had them rebuild the lower end.
They installed 4 bolt nodular caps, bored it .030 over and installed an
Eagle 383 rotating kit with forged -31cc blower pistons.  They also
installed a Lunati blower cam with 234 244 @ .050 .510" .525" lift with
1.6:1 Roller Rockers.  At the same time, the transmission was sent out
to Smith Brothers Transmission (local performance transmission guy)
they inspected and installed an ATI Manual Reverse valve body, and
billet servo.

To accommodate the larger displacement, I found a set of Sanderson
CS-13 1.75" headers with 3" collectors (replaced Hedman 1.5" X 2.5"
shorties).  My thoughts were to reduce some of the torque and pick up
some more hp.

The installation of the transmission and engine went fairly well, with
the exception of the larger headers.  The larger primary diameter
created clearance issues with the brake lines and spark plugs.  The
billet servo also created some issues as well; it was now close to the
passenger side of the tunnel.  Some massaging was done with a BFH (Big
Hammer) and all fit pretty well.

Because of the larger collectors, exhaust was not initially hooked up.
To get the exhaust buttoned up I purchased some collector reducers from
Jegs with O2 Bungs installed.  I wanted to get the ones with the O2
bung so in the future I could tune the engine with a wide-band A/F Data
logger.  A local exhaust shop welded up the reducers to my existing
exhaust and the truck was ready to tear up the streets again!

Although the truck is still in its "break in" process, the engine pulls
much harder than it had before and traction is limiting how fast the
truck really is.  This has been the case for a while now and will be
until I get enough money to purchase a bolt in 9" or 12 bolt.
Originally I had planned on breaking the 7.5" rear during my last time
at the track, since the engine blew instead, the funds for the rear
went out the window along with my cast pistons.

I am now 21 years old and back at school studying hard to complete my
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology at Wentworth
Institute of Technology.  Hopefully I will have enough money when I
graduate to purchase some parts to get the power to the ground!  Until
then, I will keep reading CHP and I look forward to seeing more great
stories in your great magazine!

Thanks again!
Kevin Zacchera
