305 will not stay on

I have a 1991 rs with a 305  it's been giving me alot of trouble it backfires and now it doesn't even want to stay on more then 30 seconds can someone help me please

Check your fuel pressure. EFI needs something like 45 psi to operate correctly. Cant remember the exact amount.

if the fuel pressure if off of spec by more than a pound or two it won't run. check that first its and easy check

A TBI motor doesn't run with that much fuel pressure, more in the high 20s to low 30s.

Is the car throwing a check engine light? If yes, pull the code and see what it says. your problem could be anythign from a bad fuel pump to a clogged filter to a bad TPS or MAP sensor.
