I have an oportunity to buy a rebuilt 454 complete engine $1100. I have a 1976 nova. My first question is should it fit in the nova? Second will it bold up to TH 350 tranie? Will I half to get new motor mounts? What other conciderations do I need to think about?

It will bolt up to the mounts and trans. 1100.00 for a rebuilt 454? You better find out whats inside that thing. Good machine work cost almost as much as your whole engine.

A well built TH350 will live behind a big block.
But with gas prices what they are, I'd take that $1100 and put together a good small block that'll make plenty of power to motivate your Nova, but not kill your wallet at every fillup!

Like 55Guy says, a well built TH350 will hold up. The difference will be, do you want to open your hood and have the same thing all the other guy's have, or do you want that BBC sitting tall and proud, with everyone wishing they had one.
