I am getting back into drag racing after a long time away.  I have assembled a 350 four bolt using a 3:48" steel crank.  The block and crank are from a corvette.  I don't remember the year.  I have a set of Brodix IK200 64cc Heads built for a hydrolic roller cam.  I used Arias light weight flat tops and scat 6 inch I beam rods. Before I choose a cam I thought I would ask your advise as I don't know how much HP the crank can handle.  I also have a TH400 with a 3000 stall converter.  This goes in a 73 Nova with a 4:11 posi.  The car will not really be street driven but will use MT Street slicks.

Well, if you aren't going to change valve springs you will need to look at the force they create and match a cam to them. This of course isn't the best route to making power but there is no sense in building an engine that will severely float the valves - which is easy to do with a hydraulic roller over 6000 rpm.

To throw some numbers your way I would be thinking around 282/286° advertised on a 108° lobe separation angle and this can easily create .525"+ lift but you need to determine if you find a grind like this that your valve springs will be up to par.  

Install springs with enough travel and proper seat/open pressure for your cam. otherwise you'll be begging to wreck the motor and ruin all the work you've done and paid for.

This info came with the IK 200 Brodix heads.

What is your opinion of the stock steel crank?
