Two part Question for you all.  I am replacing the lifters, pushrods, rockers in my '96 Silverado.  I am having a problem getting the upper intake off.  All the wiring is loose, studs are removed, and fuel lines are removed.  It moves front to back and side to side but wont lift up.....What am I missing?  Second question can I run a 1.6:1 ratio on the rockers w/ stock pushrods and will the self aligning rollers stay put or do they need constant adjustment?  I've heard they dont like to stay where you put them?  Thanks for the help and info.

Self aligning roller rockers stay put. However, a change from 1.5s to 1.6s can introduce a couple problems. 1) the pushrod gets over on the side of the head's clearance hole, this condition requires you get in there with a die grinder and enlarge the hole making it a slot. 2) to keep the roller on the valve stem somtimes requires a longer pushrod, a stem cap or both. You need to get an adjustable length testing pushrod and check this out.

If anybody's having problems keeping self-aligning roller rockers on the valve stem the above issues are probably the cause.

thanks for the reply. I decided to go with 1.5's anyway just to save some hassle and take out the unknowns.

Good luck with the engine. You didn't say whether the 1.5 were rollers or standard. Except for push rod length issues, the problems and benefits of 1.5 or 1.6 rollers are pretty much the same.
