I have huge problems with my new dist! every three to six mouths i have to replace either my coil or my control modual. its in a 1971 cheyenne with an 1987 4 bolt main 350 with a new hei dist and other add ons. new wiring throughout

71's didn't come with HEI but rather points. The point distributor uses 12 volts to the coil while crankig and 9 volts once running through a seperate resistive wire. HEI uses 12 volts. So you need to check your wiring to see what you're feeding the HEI.
