I need info on building or buying a 4.3 V6 (Vortec ?). I am putting it in a sandrail and can not find anything about a 4.3. Any help would be great.

for one thing, it is basically a 350 small-block with two of the middle cylinders removed. By that I mean that it has 4" bores and 3.48 stroke. Much of the valve train, I have read, is interchangeable with SBC albeit you would need two less. If you wanted to buy one in stock trim you should probably contact ScogginDickey or Sallee-Chevrolet and talk to them. If a modified one is okay, if you have the money, Speed-O-Motive has a .030 over 4.3 that is stroked to I think 3.55 inches. It makes I think about 280ish cubes over the original 262. www.speedomotive.com. I don't quite remember how much it is, but I do remember that it produces 350lb-ft of torque and 320 hp. How's that for a six cylinder!

If you're just looking for a stock replacement you can find jasper rebuilt long blocks for a reasonable price (under $3000) and they come with something like a 5 year, 75,000 mi. warranty. you should check them out, go to www.jasperengines.com
