I'm sure it would work... but as far as I know, not on a LT-1 or LS-1. I would suggest just getting a pair of new Chevy Vortec 350 heads since they are $513.90 per pair complete at Summit Racing. Click below for details.

This is an old and reasonably effective trick to inexpensivly run the compression up on a 350 without having to replace pistons or mill the already thin head beyond its safe limits. The 305 has small ports and valves compared to what a 350 would like. This runs the mixture velocity up which makes a real bottom end torque monster out of a 350 but clips the top end at about 5000 revs. More cam helps the revs but drives you into the ususal bad cam habits as duration and lift get bigger.
Not a lot you can do with the valves or ports, just not enough metal to open them up much. But if you want this engine for a stump-pulling jeep it's great.
By the time you spend the money to rebuild these heads your more than half way to a set of Vortecs. Vortecs provide a nice compression bump with excellent chamber turbulance and valve & port sizes more to a 350's likeing. The down side is the need to obtain a Vortec intake, which is more cost.
