i have a 1976 chevrolet truck that came with a strait six engine,i bought a 1992 silverado that was wrecked for the 350 engine,will the engine bolt to the tranny on the 1978.its a three speed auto i think its a turbo 350
|

i would say yes, i think any gm tranny can be mounted to the small block, the only thing though is the torque converter from the straight sixes stall might be different to the 350... though im not familiar with the straigh sixes output.

i was thinking it would work,only thing now is putting a fuel injected engine in a carb vehicle any thoughts on that?i wonder if they make an adapter plate to take throttle body off and put carb on intake

assuming that its got the newer style heads, you can get a carbed intake for those heads, either aftermarket or a stock one from an late 80s chevy truck or caprice. the four middle bolts are striaght down rather than angled like the pre 86.
either that or if you still have the 92 silvo, you can take out the computer and harness and find a place to put it in the 76 and you can use the fuel injection system, but you would need to find a way to mount the elec. fuel pump.

Yes you can use the factory harness but the problem with this is that oyu are going to get a lot of wires that you might not need so in my past doing it is easier to buy a new wiring kit for fuel injection, you can get kits that will have all the motor wiring and up to 21 circuits for the rest of the truck like power widows and locks etc. Painless wiring, American auto wire, EZ wire all have great wiring kits for all different price ranges and use.
