I'm new to engine assembly, and got some really good advise here so far. Anyway I'm finishing a build on a 400 sb and ordered some aluminum short/standard valve covers, now I'm wondering if I made a mistake? Do I need tall for clearance or am I ok? Setup that may help is. edelbrock alum heads #60899, comp cams magnum roller rockers (1.52 ratio) comes with pushrods, and a edelbrock 7102 cam that comes with hyd lifters(not roller). Thanks!

Even the "short" small block covers are on the tall side, so you will probably be okay. Chevy big blocks on the other hand, will not clear roller rockers with short covers. Nice rockers by the way. Whenever I build a motor that is destined for rollers, I use the Magnum rollers exclusively.

I thought my inexperience had caught up to me, that's great news. I've heard nothing but good about the Magnum rollers, so it seemed the obvious choice. Price with pushrods isn't really that bad either compared to other roller rocker/pushrod sets. Thanks for the reply.
