I have an original 1972 Chevy Pickup with the Quadrajet 4 barrel carb that I rebuilt today. On the test drive everything was fine until I kicked in the secondaries. The engine would not idle down and stayed at around 2000 RPM. Eventually I got the idle back to normal by stomping on the accelerator several times. I am not sure if the accelerator pump is sticking or what. The linkage looks to be fine and no binding. Any one run into this and can give me a quick remedy?.

Sounds like the big holes did not close back after you opened them. Work them by hand and see if there is a problem getting fully closed.
