if your nearest machine shop is unrealible, maybe you should consider building a non stroker engine. a 355 or 406 are great engines to make power out of.
i might be wrong (and i know i am)..why not build a 377 out of the 400, i believe its a 350 crank destroked in a 400, that way machine work wont be needed since the stroke is smaller, but snappy... but you might want to look into it more an ask a pro or someone else on here, cause i might be waaay off.

There is no need to give advice if you're going to discredit it as fast as it's given...
Regardless of the stroke of the engine machine work will still need to be done.
