Bulding a drag car. If it cost the same to build all 3 of thease engines which would be the best choice of the 3 engines. Going to put it in 1976 nova.

Well, do they cost the same to build? So is this question very practical?

I wasnt saying it cost the same to build all of them. Was saying that if it did which engine would be beter. The local track is 1/8mile.

What I'm saying is that that "if" makes the question nearly worthless. They don't cost the same to build, so for the purpose of building a drag car you better be taking cost into consideration.

I think I know what shadow is trying to ask. Since the 396 is kind of pointless to build, lets compare the 383 and the 454. A basic strip 383 with all forged lower, roller valvetrain, good heads intake and carb will cost about $6000. So lets keep the price of both motors at 6g's. If you had $6000 to spend on a motor what would you build (383,454) to have the fastest ET on the 1/8th mile?
