I just got a set of seats for my truck and they have a moldie smell to them. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the smell before I install them?

hey guy, you might think I'm crazy but if they are a cloth seats and don't have heating elements or electric items in them. Take the seat tracks off and you can wash them with a pressure washer and set them in the sun to dry. I have done this before and it has worked for me.

thanks

Would I still do this if they are vinyl seats?

the main thing is to make sure that when you wash them it is a hot day and put them outside a couple of days after that also, because they are vinyl and they don't breath as well as cloth!

Thanks

If they're vinyl, you want to remove the seat covers, and wipe them down with lysol to kill the mold that's causing the smell. I'd also give the now exposed seat foam a good spray of lysol also to kill all possible mold and mildew that could be growing. Leave everything out in the sun for a ocuple of days to dry and kill off any other mold particles, then put back together and reinstall.

Thanks for the help. Sprayed them off the other day with the Lysol stuff and they are in the drying process.
