Hi, this is my first post here.  Don't mind the username

I'm building a chevy 383 for an '86 olds 442.  Just looking for ideas and I have a few questions.

How much power is safe for a two bolt main 350 block?

What kind of power and range should I be aiming at to have a streetable car?

You can get 500 HP out of 2-bolt main block no problem.

For a G-body like your Olds, if this is gonna be a predominantly street driven car, you want a power band that goes roughly 1000-5000 RPM. I'd shoot for 400 HP, this'll keep costs down, keep the car affordable to drive, and also be plenty of fun.

Sorry I dont have any answers for you but, I do have a question. This may sound pretty stupid but, I noticed this is your first post and I was wondering, well, how do you post a question? I have alot of them and I cant figure out how to get them out there. I tried the FAQ's but that got me nowhere. So if you could help me out that would be great. Again Im sorry to bother you with this silly problem.
                       Thank you

Forgive me if I'm wrong, Red Line, but when you write "how do you post a question?". Arent you posting a question? If you are asking, how do you start a thread? Click the topic heading you think is the proper catagory and then click the "new topic button"

350-400 HP. is a very realistic goal for the street. Always cam to match your comp-ratio and for a broad, flat torque curve. Thats what gets it done on the street! ARP main studs, rod bolts are cheap insurance and will always make a stronger foundation. I believe the block has to be clearanced for the stroker crank, so check that before you get everything cleaned up. Red Line, feel free to ask away. No need to feel like an idiot.
