I just rebuilt 350 for my 69camaro and before I fire the motor I primed the motor with a dril, got great oil coming from all but 1 rocker the driver side at the rear of the head. If I spend the dril slowy I get 80psi at the gage, spind the dril fast the gage go all the way around and back to 0. Oil pump is new (no high vol. or any thing specal), I took the pump apart to brase the pick-up on to housing and put everything back together, all seemed good to go. That do you think? is the presure spring stuck, should I just try to start the motor and it might become unstuck, what's the worse that could happen, I blow off the filter? Have you ever herad of such high preasure?

I think the gauge you're using is funky to be honest.

Either the gauge is not accurate or the bypass valve is stuck. Try another gauge and if it still reads abnormal, take that pump apart and find the problem. Standard vol. pump should not have more than 60lbs. with cold oil.
