I found an engine for $150 locally that might make a good core. What are the expert opinions?
1999 Vortec 5.7L long block that came out of my Suburban.
2 bolt main 880 block (200k miles on block & never over heated)
factory roller cam & lifters(50K miles on it)
062 Triple hump Vortec heads with 1.6 roller tip rockers(50k on rockers)

Yes, that would make for an excellent start of a rebuild project. Those heads are good too.
