I am converting a throttle body fuel injected 350 to a carb. Now the fuel pressure is about 30 psi.
I was planning on installing a fuel regulator to keep the psi to 5-9. But some people told me that it will not work and I need to change out my fuel pump. Will the fuel regulator keep my pressure where I need it or should I change out the fuel pump?

87 small block has provisions for a mechanical pump. Probably cheaper to go that route. I believe the tank is compatible for a standard pickup/sender.

it would definitely be easier to just remove the fuel pump delete plate from the side of the block and run all your fuel lines through a mechanical fuel pump. you won't have to pull the electric fuel pump you mechanical one will slow it all down when it gets to it. that would be the easiest thing to do.

I have heard of doing that using the mechanical pump as your regulator but the problem then comes in when you go to start tuning the carb and you cant get it to run right then you have a problem diagnosing where the problem be from. I would recomend replacing the sender with the carb style and play it safe not easy , because remember when you short cut it costs you in the long run!!!

My machinist has a sign on the wall which I will quote "If you dont have time to do it right now, when will you have time to do it again". Play it safe when it comes to fuel.
