Hey guys new to the forum. I'm trying to replace my bad oil pump. Does anyone know how to get the steel sleeve off the old shaft and also how do you get the oil pickup on the pump. it's like it doesn't fit and i don't want to force it to much and break it. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Any replacement oil pump I've seen has the "sleeve" on it when you take it out of the box...
The pickup should be welded onto the pump - preferably brazed but some tack weld with a MIG.

The pickup tube is a press fit. Gotta pound it in, but get it lined up right first. You can make a slotted tube that will fit the shoulder on the p/u tube and clear the pick up. Otherwise it's a hammer & a flat nosed punch.
