Just joined,Hope someone can help!!Just bought a set of Vortec small port Bowtie heads and a Edelbrock Vortec RPM air gap intake. The runners are a bit taller then the intake runners.I was told that this intake would be a bolt on match for the heads,But it just doesn't look right to me!!!The runners in the heads are about a 1/4 taller then the intake runners.I know that these heads have raised runners but I was told that the rpm intake would work. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the intake you are using has more than 4 intake bolts you have the wrong intake. With the proper intake for vortec heads the ports will match. You will also need to buy these for bolts from your retailer. GOOD LUCK!!!

regular intakes have 6 bolts and intersect the intake mating surface perpindicular. Vortec heads only have 4 bolts. 1 bolt on each side of the water passages, and go straight down...... or you could be being a smart ass hehe. vortec have 8 bolts total (4 on each side) and regular 12 (6 on each side)

I have the right intake,It is for the vortec heads,4-bolts on each side,It is just that the heads have raised intake runners and they said to use a raised runner intake.I was told that the RPM air gap for the vortec heads part #7516 was made for these heads. The more I think about it I think they are for the standard vortec heads not the BowTie vortec's.GM recommends these's intakes,#12496820,#12496822 and #10051102.I Guess I will call Scoggin dicky on Monday and see what they recommend!!!!!!Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edelbrock is not going to be able to make a vortec manifold for OE vortecs and a separate vortec manifold for the Bowtie vortecs...

You're just going to need to port-match them if this mis-match bothers you.

get an intake gasket, dykem metal blue (or sharpie) scribe and die grinder. if you have patience its fun to do your own porting or gasket matching. just dont FUBAR what your working on. take it easy and check your progess often.
