I have a 72 nova with an automatic 350 and extras. I am looking to replace the camshaft, torque converter and rear end. I am trying to figure out the best of each to put in the car. If you have any suggestions or have put a certain part in your car please let me know what you think. Thanks.

It's impossible to tell without knowing a lot more about the car...

With O.E. heads and intake the O.E. cam work well; for daily street use. 373 gears are as low as you want go with stock tires and for fuel useage. No more than a 3000 stall should be used on the street.Tell me more about your intention please.

Appreciate the input. I am rebuilding it as a weekend burner. Im not trying to beat everyone out there in a race but I still want the car to move out. Im not going to supercharge it or put nitrous on it either, just straight gas. Its going to be my, look what i got, car.

A fellow nova guy. I have a '73. If you still have a points dist. ditch it and use a HEI. This will boost your ignition. I am running a summit brand cam .465/.488 with 224/234 dur @ .050(p/n SUM-K1105). I have an old Dayco converter 2600 stall and a single track 3.73 gear. The car is fun to drive and runs 8.40's in the 1/8 mile and gets me 16 mpg on the road. The car also has an old set of small tube headers with Thrush mufflers that turn down just at the rear axle. May not be the perfect recipe but it works for this daily driver. L8TR

You're lucky that Summit brand cam still has all the lifters rotating on it...
