'73 350 block
lunati 0010 BMII cam
Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 230/230
Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .480/.480

HEI aftermarket ignition

double roller timing set

Bought this car with the motor together, 6,000 miles on it.(supposedly)  Had 2 pulled rocker studs, removed all the press in studs and the roller rockers and replaced them with screw in studs and stamped rockers for the time being.
Would not run worth a *** under power... could get it to run well in the driveway though.
Ended up pulling the timing cover and checked that the marks were aligned... weren't, 180 out... pulled and reinstalled the Dist.    will not fire!  pulled the cover again... marks pointing at each other, dist. pointing exactly at #1... assembled... nope, still wont run..
for *** and giggles, rewired the dist cap 180 out... fires!
WHY??????

even if the cam to crank timing was 180 out is still is fine  they just put the marks on there for reference so your not one tooth off...check it out yourself when you have the timing cover off...also just because you pointed the distributor to #1 doesn't mean thats correct...#1 must be on TDC compression stroke, pointed to #1 gets you close.  a little trick or what we do when we install a new engine in the race boat is turn the power on the ignition  but not the fuel, crank it over with time light connected to set base timing...once you button every thing else up and put fuel to it and it fires when you touch the key you will feel like a PRO.
